Courtright’s Charges Warrant An Upgrade To A RICO Case

According to files related to disgraced former Scranton mayor Courtight’s trial, the evidence presented demonstrates a pattern of conspiracy involving multiple malefactors, intermediaries, and extortion. One of the companies involved in the investigation has ties to the recently convicted Allentown mayor. This demonstrates a widespread organization involving multiple individuals engaged in criminal acts causing the obstruction of commerce; This is a RICO case.

RICO stands for The Racketeer Influence and Corrupt Organization Act. According to the United States Department of Justice Criminal Resource Manual a RICO:

is unlawful for anyone employed by or associated with any enterprise engaged in, or the activities of which affect, interstate or foreign commerce, to conduct or participate, directly or indirectly, in the conduct of such enterprise’s affairs through a pattern of racketeering activity or collection of unlawful debt.

Former Mayor Courtright was involved in criminal dealings since becoming mayor 5 years ago. His actions involve questionable transactions involving the sell public assets and known co-conspirators. It is clear that in order for him to have run his criminal enterprise, he needed to the cooperation of numerous individuals. Thus, he was involved in a corrupt organization!!
