One of the issues that I see with Scranton is the way the local government expresses little concrete plans concerning the future. Taxes, fees and cost are continually rising but when will these things go down. Is there any clearing in sight? Is there a light at the end of the tunnel
Politicians have a bad habit of glossing over important details in order to avoid controversy. This is especially true during an election year. What all of the good people of Scranton need know is that taxes in Scranton will never go down with the current policies. The pensions are underfunded and the local government owes far too much. Scranton is not getting the young people needed to move here in order to expand the tax base. Thus, as the population decreases, the few people who remain in the city will have to pay more for the same services.
Now, it does not have to be this way. The people of Scranton can obtain relief if they demand cuts be made at the government level. If the cost of the Scranton government is lower than there would be no need for increases in taxes. In fact, taxes would go down which would spur economic activity through discretionary spending. There is no alternative! The people of Scranton need to know what the future of Scranton will look like. Anyone who is interested in moving here is going to want to know what Scranton future holds. That future will be bright and beautiful once we clean house in city hall. #Savescranton
